# Test, edit, disable, or delete IMAP inboxes

> Learn how to test connections, toggle inboxes on or off, edit settings, and safely delete IMAP accounts in Kova without losing linked profile data.

After you add an IMAP account to Kova, you can return to the IMAP Accounts page to maintain it. You can test the connection, change settings, enable or disable scanning, and remove accounts you no longer need.

## Test the connection

Use the **Test connection** action to verify that Kova can reach your IMAP server using the saved host, port, TLS setting, username, and encrypted secret. Kova records the time and result of the test so you can see whether the inbox is reachable.

If the test fails, double-check the IMAP host and port, confirm SSL/TLS is correct for your provider, and verify that your app password or token has not expired.

## Enable or disable an inbox

The **Enabled** toggle controls whether an inbox can be assigned to new retailer profiles and whether Kova scans it for orders. Inboxes are enabled by default.

When you disable an inbox, existing assignments do not change, but the inbox can no longer be used for new profile creation or order syncing.

<Warning>
  Disabling an inbox is blocked until every linked retailer profile is reassigned to another enabled IMAP account. You must move or remove those profile assignments first.
</Warning>

## Edit an inbox

Click **Edit** on an account to update visible settings such as the nickname, host, port, SSL/TLS, or username. You can also enter a replacement app password or token if your old secret has expired.

If you leave the password field blank while editing, Kova preserves the existing encrypted secret and only updates the other fields.

## Delete an inbox

Click **Delete** to remove an account from Kova. Deletion is permanent and soft-deleted: Kova immediately destroys the encrypted secret and removes the connection.

<Warning>
  Deleting an inbox is blocked until every linked retailer profile is reassigned. You must remove or reassign those profiles before Kova will allow deletion.
</Warning>

## IMAP requirements by retailer

Some retailers require an enabled IMAP account for account-based profiles:

* Target
* Walmart
* Costco
* Sam's Club

For Pokemon Center, IMAP is recommended but not required. Before deleting your last enabled IMAP account, check whether any of your profiles require one.
