# Pause profiles and retailers from checkout

> Use Kova checkout controls to pause individual profiles or an entire retailer without deleting anything. Learn how eligibility switches affect export behavior.

Kova checkout controls let you pause a profile or an entire retailer from being included in operator checkout exports without deleting data. You can toggle these switches at any time to control which identities are available for export.

## Profile-level switch

Every profile has its own **Checkout** switch. When this switch is turned on, the profile is eligible for checkout exports. When you turn it off, the profile is paused and will not appear in operator exports.

## Retailer-level switch

Every retailer workspace has a retailer-wide switch. Turning off the retailer switch prevents **all profiles and logins** for that retailer from being exported. Individual profile preferences remain saved and are not modified.

## How the two controls interact

| Switch state              | Result                                                                            |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Profile on, Retailer on | Profile is eligible for export. |
| Profile on, Retailer off | Profile is paused because the retailer is paused. Individual preference stays on. |
| Profile off, Retailer on | Profile is paused by its own switch. |
| Profile off, Retailer off | Profile is paused by both switches. |

## Restoring a paused retailer

When you turn the retailer switch back on, Kova restores the existing individual profile preferences. Profiles that were individually turned off stay off, and profiles that were individually turned on become eligible again.

<Warning>
  These switches only grant or withhold export eligibility. Turning a switch on does **not** place an order. Orders are still placed by the operator export process.
